Honolulu China Town

A visit to Oahu isn't complete without checking out China Town near Waikiki. This photo was taken during Chinese New Year, one of the best times to experience Chinese culture in Hawaii. Click here for a calendar of events.

Vendors entice curious onlookers with Chinese Malasadas, or deep fried donuts with a sweet red bean paste filling. While you are there be sure to take the family to try some famous bubble tea.

The Chinatown Cultural Plaza is located in the heart of Chinatown (100 N. Beretania Street ) and offers some world class Chinese resteraunts and various Chinese souveniers. Park in the Garage right next to the center and validate your ticket at one of the many fine resteraunts.

There is a stage in the center of the plaza where performances sometimes take place.

There is also a mini mall with Chinese souvenirs and art.

Tai Pan Dim Sum is our family's restaurant for Dim Sum  in the Plaza. If you or the family has never tried Dim Sum, you must.

Steamed Char Siu bun and Shrimp Dumpling, a local favorite.

.Lots of delicious deserts for the little ones to choose from.

Outside the Cultural Center, kids can run wild and the parents can enjoy the historic Chinese architecture. There is plenty to see and do in China Town's Honolulu make sure you bring your camera and appetite.
Enjoy!

  1. We will have to check out the Chinese Cultural Center next time we are in town. Great idea to spend a lazy afternoon in Honolulu.
