The Main entrance to the Honolulu Zoo. Tickets are just 6$ for locals and active military, 12$ for visitors, and free for kids under 3. The zoo is in walking distance of Waikiki Beach or parking is around 2$ if you plan on driving.
They have a great gift shop to take home some keepsakes to remember your family trip.
The first exhibit you will see upon entering the Honolulu Zoo is the Flamingo garden.
Next, is an interesting distance to nearest zoo map.
We stopped for some lunch at a cafe at the in the middle of the zoo and received an uninvited, but much welcome guest.
The cafe at the Honolulu Zoo sells your typical American food and well as local plate lunches. The kid's lunch was 7.50$ for either a spam masubi (rice and spam wrapped in seaweed) or a corn dog with chips and a souvenir cup.
There is a playground conveniently located next to the restaurant so the kids can burn off that newly acquired energy before heading to the Keiki Zoo.
The first thing you will find in the Keiki Zoo is a giant Koi fish tank with a tunnel running through it for kids to crawl through, which we thought was pretty cool.
Kaylyn did too.
Next we found a petting area with goats. She was scared at first, but warmed up to the little fella after a while.
There was only one cow the day we went and she was sleeping in the shade. I think Kaylyn had more fun playing with the statue anyway.
Surprisingly, there is quite a few exhibits easily comparable to most metropolitan zoos. The zoo has everything from giraffes to lions. We could show you more, but don't want to and ruin the fun for all the families out there that have yet to see what the Honolulu Zoo has to offer.
The Honoulu Zoo Website also offers birthday party area rentals, special group rates, and tickets that can be purchased online.
